So you are thinking about hiring a Contractor? Dont know who to trust or how to fully check out a potential Contractor. Maybe this will help.

Every company will promise you the world and that they are the best! Its easy to pick up awards especially when you are the only one on the ballot. They can advertise like crazy and use pushy salespeople but watch out! Reputation, workmanship and your satisfaction is key. The best product at a fair price is the best business model. Unfortunately many Contractors dont believe in this and care about their profit margin. Enough complaints and lawsuits and they will just change company names and with them goes your warranty. Unfortunately thats just the way it is.

We have had so many customers say they wish they called us first. We have seen other local contractors charge ridiculous unnecessary fees like $2,700 for re-nailing the roof decking to satisfy the current Florida Building Code. Wow, one man-hour labor and less than $100 in deck nails. We have also seen other contractors charge sales tax on the completed roof price quickly adding hundreds of dollars to the final bill. Sales tax is only paid on raw materials during purchase by the Contractor and no tax on labor.

In short, there are other very reputable Contractors out there. We know because we have been competing with them for many years. But there are alot of imposters. If you interview a few you will have peace of mind you chose the right Contractor.

Below is a few examples when searching for a Contractor. Click Here for a list of questions to ask during a Contractor interview.

First, determine if the Contractor has done work in another name. For example John Doe Construction Inc and John Doe LLC are two seperate companies. Where one company failed the other began. This is easly detectable since the lawsuits can name both companies as defendants. Click here on the Brevard_County Clerks website and type in their business name. Be sure to change the name tab from exact to begins with and the date from one year to at least 10 years.

Second, simply Google the company name with the word "complaints". There are several compaint websites that may pop up. Also search their telephone number. An "out of business" company may surface.

Third, check with the local Business Council at (321) 984-8454. Any registered complaint is not good even if it was settled. This simply means the Contractor and Customer could not come to an agreement. What ever happened to "the customer is always right" philosophy. Although we have never had a complaint it is possible that it could happen. But multiple complaints in only a couple years the business is in operation? Not Good! Dont be the next unhappy complaint. And remember, Contractors pay alot of money to be members of an association that passes judgement on your complaint!

Fourth, years in business. We have seen new businesses give extra long warranties. The number one compaint we have heard from customers is the roof is still under "warranty" but the Contractors phone is disconnected or answered by a new company in business.
